Long Distance HDMI ... YES!
I use the TruLink HDMI over Cat5 Receiver (#29269) to extend a video signal from a church server (Win7 Pro) on the 2nd floor, to a 70" Visio TV in the 1st floor lobby (~75 feet). This provides a large, clear and eye catching display to greet people at our main entry and share information (a looping PowerPoint presentation) on classes, upcoming events, etc.
The device capabilities are well beyond what I need now, but I am frequently asked to change things in the environment and the added distance provides the flexibility I need available. Besides, my research showed comparable cost for other products that have less capability.
I paired the (#29269) receiver with the TruLink HDMI over Cat5 Transmitter (#29241). It really is a simple plug-and-play device. I ran a single Cat5e cable and connected it and HDMI cables at each end. The signal came online immediately. I just set the monitor resolution as high as possible and cloned the monitor output to the TV. The video was 100% perfect, with no adjustments necessary anywhere.

Yes, it can get power from the transmitter over the Cat5e cable.

Can I use a DP transmitter and HDMI receiver? Computer is DP out and AV equipment uses HDMI
Unfortunately this is meant to function with HDBASET from HDMI to HDMI only.
