Does the job
Since Comcast now requires a box to use their television services, I had to add their DTA to my Windows Media Center PC setup. The IR emitter cable now sends the signals from my PC IR receiver to the DTA with no issues. I no longer have to use two remotes to use the guide and change channels, plus I can use my DVR again!

Works perfectly!
Using this emitter with a USB-UIRT blaster to control a cable DTA from my SageTV PVR server. It was easy to stick on the box and it works like a champ. So far in a month of use not one single command has been missed or misinterpreted.

i read in one review that this works with verizon stb. I bought this and it wont work with QIP7100 2 box...
This is normally used with the 40430 IR repeater kit. I do not believe this will work directly with the Verizon cable box.

is this compatible with Motorola cable boxes ?
This emitter is to be used with our IR repeater kit 40430. The emitter alone would not allow you to extend the range of the Motorola cable box. The emitter would go over the IR sensor on the Motorola box and the 3.5mm side would connect to the emitter port on 40430.

Can the length of the cable be extended by using a cable with appropriate male and female jacks, or would it need to be cut and spliced into cat5 cable instead?
You can extended this cable with a mono 3.5mm cable. However you can only extend this 15 more feet.
